How Church of the Redeemer Came to Be
Church of the Redeemer is a church here in Blount County, started out of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. In 2015, much of the leadership at Cedar Springs had a heart for starting new churches abroad, but felt that God was also calling them to reach out in their own region to reconcile people to God and each other, especially those who didn’t have a church home.

As CSPC had dozens of folks in the Maryville and Alcoa area, many had a heart for starting a gospel-centered church in their own city. Through much prayer and searching, CSPC identified Dave Strunk to help lead an effort in the Maryville and Alcoa area. Starting in the Fall of 2016, a core group was identified and began work on praying, planning, and serving the community. We launched worship services in the fall of 2017 at Alcoa High School and have been enjoying our mission and worship in Alcoa ever since.
